There are evenings that remind us exactly why we do this job with so much passion. Last night, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming some truly special guests to our accommodation: the owners of the San Luciano winery (visit their website here: sanlucianovini.it), a stellar wine producer nestled in the beautiful Tuscan hills of Monte San Savino, near Arezzo.
These Tuscan wine artisans are currently here in Piedmont for the prestigious Wine Business Hub, an exclusive B2B event held in the stunning, historic setting of Pollenzo (Bra). This international event is a true cornerstone for the industry—a stage where top-tier wineries from all over Italy meet buyers and importers from every corner of the globe (from the United States to the Far East) to share the culture of fine Italian wine. We are incredibly proud that, for their two-night stay during such an intense and important event, they chose our property as their "home away from home."
Their extraordinary Tuscan warmth and hospitality won us over from the very first moment. Not only was it an absolute delight to chat with them, but they also kindly gifted us two beautiful bottles from their estate. We couldn't wait to photograph them (as you can see below!) and, above all, to tell you all about them.
Here are the two gems they gave us:
- "Guitto" Toscana Bianco I.G.T. A name that speaks volumes! In the Tuscan dialect, "guitto" means "clever" or "cheeky," and this white wine perfectly reflects the lively spirit of its homeland. Crafted mainly from Malvasia di Candia Aromatica grapes grown at an altitude of around 320 meters, it features a brilliant straw-yellow color. On the nose, it offers intensely fruity and aromatic notes, while on the palate, it surprises with its freshness and a very delicate, almost imperceptible natural effervescence that makes it incredibly inviting. It is the perfect companion for a summer aperitif or a fish dinner. A truly delightful and surprisingly captivating white!
- "Cresta del Gallo" Colle Carpito Toscana Rosso I.G.T. (2018 Vintage) An important red with grand character, coming from the select single vineyard of the same name, Cresta del Gallo. This wine is a clever blend of Sangiovese and Montepulciano. The 2018 vintage they gifted us aged beautifully in French oak barriques followed by refinement in the bottle. The result? A vibrant ruby-red color and a harmonious bouquet with hints of wild berries. On the palate, it is velvety, well-rounded, fresh yet structured—a classic, heartwarming Tuscan red, perfect for pairing with red meats or enjoying as a meditation wine.
Having the opportunity to host producers who pour so much dedication, history, and passion into every single bottle is a privilege that truly enriches what we do. Behind that ticket to the Wine Business Hub in Pollenzo lie the vineyards of Monte San Savino, hands stained by the soil, and the pride of bringing the authentic flavors of Tuscany to the world stage.
